For this innovative creative project, Carwan Gallery has commissioned designers Campbell-Rey, India Mahdavi, Linde Freya Tangelder, Objects of Common Interest, and Roberto Sironi to create new lighting objects that would push the limits of materials and technology, an opportunity made possible through Luce5’s sophisticated know-how and expertise. The resulting lighting objects take the form of highly sculptural chandeliers, floor lamps, table lamps, and sconces, in a collection that celebrates innovation and daring creativity, under the common title Elektra Lux.

Each designer was given a carte blanche to create one or more lighting objects, based on their current research and work. At the same time, they were invited to experiment and envision daring new ideas that could then be materialised into functional design objects. The project kicked off with a three-day workshop at Luce5’s headquarters in Tuscany, where all five designers were introduced to the endless possibilities of the company’s current technological arsenal, as well as an infinite range of materials, manufacturing techniques, and highly specialised local crafts, such as mouth-blown glass.
