For the upcoming edition of Nomad Capri, Carwan Gallery and Luce5 together unveil an exciting new collection of lighting objects
A joint design initiative by Carwan Gallery, the leading international gallery for collectible design, and Italian bespoke lighting manufacturer Luce5, seeks to expand the frontiers of contemporary lighting design with a new line of collectible lighting objects. The result of exclusive commissions to five international designers, this new collaboration will be unveiled at the upcoming edition of Nomad, a biannual showcase for collectible design and art, that will be held on the island of Capri between 6-9 July 2023.
For this innovative creative project, Carwan Gallery has commissioned designers Campbell-Rey, India Mahdavi, Linde Freya Tangelder, Objects of Common Interest, and Roberto Sironi to create new lighting objects that would push the limits of materials and technology, an opportunity made possible through Luce5’s sophisticated know-how and expertise. The resulting lighting objects take the form of highly sculptural chandeliers, floor lamps, table lamps, and sconces, in a collection that celebrates innovation and daring creativity, under the common title Elektra Lux.
Each designer was given a carte blanche to create one or more lighting objects, based on their current research and work. At the same time, they were invited to experiment and envision daring new ideas that could then be materialised into functional design objects. The project kicked off with a three-day workshop at Luce5’s headquarters in Tuscany, where all five designers were introduced to the endless possibilities of the company’s current technological arsenal, as well as an infinite range of materials, manufacturing techniques, and highly specialised local crafts, such as mouth-blown glass.
