"purple, turquoise, pink (brown along the edges)" by ROTOR

For the first time in the Middle East, the Belgian collective Rotor will showcase works in Beirut. The exhibition consists of a series of specimens, elements extracted from very different contexts. These exhibits have been selected for their capacity to resist simple classifications. The objects question the function and legitimization of established codes in the design practice. They border on several disciplines in mixing the codes of waste and products, between precious and common- place or between material and object.

The exhibition contains new commissioned works produced in Lebanon alongside internationally acclaimed works of the collective that were previously presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Barbican Center and Fondazione Prada. The various works, mostly pièce unique, will be for the first time available for private acquisitions.

For the occasion, Carwan will unveil its brand new location in Beirut Seaside road, in a stunning and massive industrial architecture from the 30’s. "purple, turquoise, pink (brown along the edges)" is co-curated by Carwan and Actant Visuelle.
