JEONGHWA SEO | PRECISE PLAY

Hong Kong | 20 November 2026 - 20 February 2027

Carwan Gallery is pleased to present PRECISE PLAY, a solo exhibition by South Korean designer and artist Jeonghwa Seo, bringing together emblematic works from his practice alongside a series of new commissions conceived specifically for the occasion. The exhibition marks the inauguration of Carwan Gallery’s new space in Hong Kong, opening a new chapter in the gallery’s programme.

Exploring the boundaries between traditional craftsmanship and industrial processes, PRECISE PLAY expands on Seo’s ongoing investigation into materiality, structure, and function. Working across cast aluminium, wood, resin, and natural rush, the designer challenges conventional perceptions of materials, revealing unexpected relationships between organic textures and precise geometric forms.

Central to his practice is a distinctive approach to aluminium sand casting, through which the natural grain and traces of wood are transferred onto the surface of metal. These transformations create a dialogue between the natural and the manufactured, where industrial structures retain the imprint of organic growth. Spanning sculptural furniture, lighting, and functional objects, PRECISE PLAY brings together works in which material experimentation and structural rigour converge, inviting a renewed perception of the relationship between form, matter, and function.
